Online shopping may have had an impact on Housing Board shops. Close to 50 per cent of those who bought items online reported they had shopped less at HDB shops in the latest HDB Sample Household Survey, which is conducted once every five years. The latest survey, done in 2018, also showed that HDB residents generally interacted slightly less with their neighbours, though the proportion who communicated with their neighbours on online chat groups or social media more than doubled from 2013. The survey results, released yesterday, showed that about four in 10 HDB residents had made online purchases through websites and mobile applications during the year, with a higher proportion of online shoppers living in four-room or bigger flat types. The majority of online shoppers were aged 45 years and below and likely to be from families with young children. Clothing and footwear were the top items purchased online, followed by phones and electronic products. Associate Professor Lawrence Loh from the National University of Singapore Business School said the question of HDB shops' survival amid the rise of e-commerce is a chicken-and-egg problem. "The younger people will not turn to HDB shops unless they are upgraded and made upmarket. Yet these shops will not move upwards unless there is a market," he said. "If we want to preserve the HDB shops, if we value the social contribution of these shops, we will need an impetus from the HDB or other authorities." In a statement, the HDB said heartland shops continue to play an important role in serving the needs of residents, notwithstanding the trend towards online shopping. It said it would continue to support neighbourhood shops to boost their vibrancy and competitiveness through various schemes. The survey polled about 7,800 households. The HDB said the surveys have provided valuable feedback for the Housing Board to enhance the design of flats, neighbourhoods and estates. The latest survey showed the proportion of those who exchanged greetings with their neighbours dropped from 98.6 per cent in 2013 to 97 per cent, while the figure for those who indulged in casual conversations dipped from 97 per cent to 94.4 per cent. Instead, more interacted online. Close to 12 per cent said they communicated with neighbours on chat groups or on social media, compared with 4.8 per cent in 2013. Participation rates in organised community activities also dropped over the past five years, with about 39 per cent saying they did so in 2018, compared with 48.6 per cent in 2013.2 points

if i have more data to work on, i can give a more accurate figure to prove that the welfare transfer of these gst vouchers r basically inadequate. using a cai png example, assuming a 1br old folk jiak sgd5 cai png per meal and with gst of 7%, that means sgd0.35 govt tax. this means sgd31.50 monthly or sgd383.25 yrly and add in utilities of sgd240 yrly, what ah heng gives these 1-2 br dwellers gst voucher of sgd595 for fy2021 got smlj use since not enough to offset the present living costs as the old folk still need to fork out an additional sgd28.25 for the differences. nb, ah heng needs to study more b4 he wants to talk welfare economics with limpeh me. wahahahahhahahha2 points

listen to the king la. To stop unauthorised online transaction. For Debit card user. Step 1: go online banking find Manage alerts to receive SMS notifications for your credit/debit card transactions. find Transaction alerts . for me i set my Transaction alerts to $0.01. if any Transaction more then 0.01cent, i will recevie sms step 2. to protect more, set the Debit Card Limit to $0, if you want to buy stuff then change the value, once payment is process change bank to 0 step 3. for order like amazon that dont deduct your money straight away. then just deposit enough cash for the order then once amazon process the order then add top up to $500 to prevent service charge. then set back to 0 limit when done or option 2 step 1: can use virtual CC to make payment or to allow which payment to approve which i did. so only those i want can deduct it those got more info, share please1 point

Government unveils Singapore Green Plan 2030 The plan highlights five key pillars. The government has revealed the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which contains targets that will strengthen Singapore’s commitment to the United Nation’s 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and Paris Agreement as well as pose the city-state to achieve its long-term, net-zero emissions goal. The plan has presented five key pillars: City in Nature, Sustainable Living, Energy Reset, Green Economy, and Resilient Future. Pioneered by the ministries of education, national development, sustainability and the environment, trade and industry, and transport, the Green Plan will bolster current sustainability efforts and mitigation measures with new initiatives and targets. According to a joint statement, some of the initiatives to be implemented are the following: creating a new Enterprise Sustainability Programme to aid local enterprises in developing sustainability efforts; requiring all new car registrations to be cleaner-energy models from 2030, as well as upping the targeted number of electric vehicles charging points (from 28,000 to 60,000) by 2030; augmenting the sustainability standards of local buildings via the new edition of the Singapore Green Building Masterplan; building on the city-state’s goal of reducing the waste sent to its landfill by 30%; and working towards a two-thirds cut of net carbon emissions from schools by 2030. “The Green Plan is a living plan, which will evolve as we develop and refine our strategies, taking into account technological developments, and as part of a continuous national engagement process,” the joint statement read. The Green Plan will be building on sustainability efforts from preceding decades to nourish Singapore’s economic, climate, and resource resilience to improve the quality of living of its citizens, as well as create new businesses and job opportunities. The public and other partners will be involved in developing ideas as part of the national engagement process. “For a start, we will embark on a series of Green Plan Conversations this year, hosted by the ministers overseeing the Green Plan, to seek the views of Singaporeans and to explore potential partnerships,” the joint statement added. https://sbr.com.sg/economy/news/government-unveils-singapore-green-plan-20301 point
