A netizen recently visited the Kampong Glam Ramadan market and shared a video online to give "cruel and honest comments" about food and beverages, but unexpectedly caused dissatisfaction among the vendors.

Mediacorp English-language news website TODAY reported that netizen @gunbuttock uploaded a video on TikTok after visiting the Ramadan market in Kampong Glam, giving his "cruel and honest comments" about the food and beverages at the four stalls.

In the video, he first commented on the cheese crab turkey and bacon fries from one of the vendors, Frank On Wheels, saying that they were "just plain fries, with cheese sauce and only a little crab sticks on top."

He also said: "This price is 11.90 yuan, please don't waste your money." ”

The vendor, who claims to sell "Singapore's only smoked fries", has been widely recommended and touted by netizens on social media.

However, netizen @gunbuttock also said in the video that the "smoked" ingredient in the fries is simply vapor from dry ice.

"There's no 'smoky' ingredient in it at all, it's purely for aesthetics," he said. Out of 10, I give him a score of 1 point. ”

When the video was published, it quickly sparked discussion. Many netizens left messages of support, hoping that he would share more honest comments, but one netizen who claimed to be the owner of Frank On Wheels left a message expressing his dissatisfaction.

Netizens who claimed to be the owner of Frank On Wheels @AbayaByKhalishaSg angrily retorted: "What do you mean by ordinary fries? So the fries you eat at (hawker centres) are different? Yes, smoke is for beauty, not for you to eat! I'd wish you had just come over and let me know, (instead of) posting online. ”

The netizen also said that the cheese crab fries are new and may need to be further improved, and said that if customers come forward to give feedback, the vendor will definitely remake it and recommend other flavors.

In addition, the netizen also meant that the netizen may @gunbuttock give bad reviews for the sake of creating content.

After the incident fermented, many netizens left comments criticizing the actions of Frank On Wheels as "naïve" and "unprofessional", and pointed out that everyone has the right to make their own comments and "has no obligation to remain silent after payment".

Netizen @AbayaByKhalishaSg's comments in the video comment area have now been deleted.

In response to today's inquiry, Frank On Wheels did not confirm the relationship between the netizen and the operator, saying only that the operator would be happy to receive feedback from customers if improvements were needed.

"True, honest reviews are the personal opinion of the reviewer. I have no problem with that. But as a business, we run a business...... People may not realize the impact of the hate they create online behind their faceless comments, which can ruin a business. ”

However, just a few days after this incident, netizens @gunbuttock shared the latest video on TikTok today (25th), saying that he received a lawyer's letter from Frank On Wheels, saying that he gave defamation and false remarks in the video.

According to the lawyer's letter, the netizen was also accused of charging Frank On Wheels excessive fees to customers and engaging in questionable business practices, and also posted two additional videos targeting Frank On Wheels on March 12 after collating negative reviews, so he was asked to immediately apologize publicly on social media.

In this regard, netizen @gunbuttock wrote in a post: "The pursuit of complete transparency may be affected by those who have wealth and influence." That's why influencers can't give cruel and honest reviews. ”

In addition, he also questioned in the video: "Is it reasonable to use power to suppress someone just because they don't agree with them?" ”

In this regard, many netizens also expressed their support for the @gunbuttock of netizens in the comments, and expressed their confusion about Frank On Wheels' approach, believing that "if they can't accept criticism, then they shouldn't start a business."
