those off grid under food preservation said the same thing, as long as not sexpoe to water or moisture, and store properly, it can last a long time

Yes agreed, some of these items have more of a "best before" date rather than an expiry date.

 

I have been eating and drinking lotsa expired things that my wife got bored of. I am still alive, only side effect is that I am abit bian tai :(

for milk, usually for cooking, if just opened, i take the amount i need and the rest i store in a 250ml container in serving size and usually 2 or 3 container  and freeze it.

soft drinks for example can spoil. The high sugar content will spoil easily especially in warm environment
