Tehran: The Pentagon has confirmed Iran has launched "dozens" of ballistic missiles  against US military and coalition forces in Iraq.

State TV described it early on Wednesday as Tehran's revenge operation over the killing of Revolutionary Guard General Qassem Soleimani.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard then warned the US and its regional allies against retaliating over the missile attack in Iraq. The Guard issued the warning via a statement carried by Iran's state-run IRNA news agency.

"We are warning all American allies, who gave their bases to its terrorist army, that any territory that is the starting point of aggressive acts against Iran will be targeted," the Guard said. It also threatened Israel.

A US official told Reuters the United States believed there have been potentially multiple attacks on locations in Iraq, including the Ain Asad airbase that hosts US forces, without providing additional information.

It was unclear what other sites may have been attacked. Tensions have mounted with Iran following a US drone strike on Friday that killed Soleimani.

State TV said the operation's name was "Marytr Soleimani". It said the Revolutionary Guard's aerospace division, which controls Iran's missile program, launched the attack.

Ain Assad air base is located in Iraq's western Anbar province. It was first used by American forces after the 2003 US-led invasion that toppled dictator Saddam Hussein. It later saw American troops stationed there amid the fight against the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria. White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said the White House was aware of the reports. "The President has been briefed and is monitoring the situation closely and consulting with his national security team," she said.

Iranian English-language television first reported the attack on the Ain Assad US military base on Wednesday. Press TV says it's had confirmation from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps that it was hitting the Ain Assad air base with "tens of missiles".  State TV described it as Tehran's revenge operation over the killing of Revolutionary Guard General Qassem Soleimani.

US forces could not be immediately reached for comment.

or if they are really wu ji like real warriors, pew juiceland...

like i said, the iranian pew pew is for domestic consumption to protect the ayatollahs' legitimacy.

the ayatollahs r not as strong as they r projecting since iranian economy is in a mess.

pew pew kuwait is nothing, the iranians shld pew pew at the us naval base in bahrain, then i say they got balls.

the americans will now have legit reasons to hit the iranian proxies in iraq and the isrealis will most likely take advantage of it by launching strikes of their own.
