which brings up the question of social welfare safety net.

Ah Gong not wrong in saying a strong social welfare safety net will encourage free-rider problem.

but if a person spends his/her entire life working and in the end, have to collect card boards for a living, this means the pension/retirement system is broken.

in other words, the cpf is not providing a decent income for old people to enjoy their sunset phase of life.

so nb, then why pay gic  first world high pay to generate a third world lifestyle?????

Most of the time when i travel and see the elderly in other countries living a carefree twilight years & playing with their grandchildren.  I see our elderly cleaning up after FTs in food centers/Macdonalds or cleaning mall Toilets!
