SINGAPORE – A student has died after he took part and fell during a school activity held at Safra Yishun, according to a report by The Straits Times on Thursday (4 February).

The 15-year-old student, who is believed to be from Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), was conveyed to hospital following the incident on Wednesday, the report said. He died on Thursday morning, according to the report.

The boy was participating in a high-element activity arranged by Camelot, which provides outdoor adventure learning services. Such activities involve participants who wear safety helmets and other safety equipment while clearing obstacles at a height.

The instructors involved have been questioned by the police, and no foul play is suspected, according to the report.

Delane Lim, Outdoor Learning and Adventure Education Association (OLAE) honorary secretary, has reacted to the incident on Facebook and extended his condolences to the boy’s family. Camelot is a member of OLAE.

He said as the matter is under investigation, “we should not speculate or (be) wild guessing what actually happened but to allow the fact finding process to take place by the authorities and relevant parties. This incident will certainly impact our outdoor community significantly."

Yahoo News Singapore has reached out to Safra Yishun, Camelot, ACS(I) and the Ministry of Education for comment.
