Yet another section of external facade falls from same Bedok Reservoir Block

A part of a block's external facade fell to the ground at Bedok Reservoir on Friday afternoon (Dec 27).

Stomper Syed, a resident of the block, alerted Stomp to the incident and shared photos of debris at the foot of the Block 634 Bedok Reservoir Road and the gap left on the external wall.

"A part of the facade fell again," he said.

"Last year, it was from the ninth floor of the same block.

"This time it was from the fourth floor."

Stomp earlier reported on a part of the external facade that had fallen from Block 634 on Nov 8, 2018.

"Luckily, no one was injured," said Syed.

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesman from the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC) said it is aware of the incident.

"We have removed the debris and cordoned off a section of the ground floor for the safety of residents," the spokesman said.

"The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) had initially called for a meeting with the Housing and Development Board (HDB) and AHTC to discuss the rectification measures.

"However, AHTC was later informed that BCA would have a separate meeting with HDB to discuss the matter first, and would notify AHTC if a meeting was still required.

"AHTC will expedite the rectification works as soon as possible."
