The_King Posted November 11, 2020 Share Posted November 11, 2020 The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has responded after a man was caught on video dragging a 'shivering' dog by a leash outside Tang Plaza on Saturday (Nov 7). Stomper Clovis was at Tangs department store at 1.30pm when she saw what happened and shared a photo and a video. In the video, the man can be seen dragging a dog on a leash as he is walking away. "I saw this man with a dog and the dog looked very scared and frightened," Clovis said. "It was shivering all the way and the man just kept pulling it and forcing it to move. "The dog was shaking so much and many passers-by saw what happened. "Before I took the video, the man actually stopped at the side and started talking to himself. Then, he started walking and forcefully pulling the dog, telling it to walk straight." Clovis added that she is unsure whether the dog belongs to the man. "He clearly does not care about the dog at all, and that is no way to treat an animal," she said. In response to a Stomp query, SPCA's executive director Dr Jaipal Singh Gill said: "This is an inappropriate way to walk a dog and it is concerning to hear that the dog was ‘shaking and shivering’ as well. These are signs of fear and distress." Dr Gill added that a dog should not be dragged by a leash. "The SPCA is happy to provide advice to the pet guardian and he can reach out to us at [email protected]," said Dr Gill. "We thank the member of the public for speaking up for the dog."
