SINGAPORE — A 20-year-old man and an 82-year-old woman were hurt after a large ceiling fan was hit by a ladder at 21 Street Eating House in Tampines on Wednesday (Oct 28).

According to social media posts by witnesses, maintenance was being conducted on the fan when the incident occurred.

In an Instagram post, user Desmond Ng claimed a worker’s ladder had “hit the spinning fan” during the maintenance.

Facebook user Ang Bee Tin said in a post that she had just walked away from the area and found a seat further away when the “giant fan went haywire”.

A photo on social media shows a large fan with bent blades pointing almost vertically towards the ground. One of its blades appear to have been detached.

Other photos show that at least one of the injured was bleeding.
