socrates469bc
the ugly truth is that the full holdings of gic is not subjected to parliamentary oversight. so no one outside gic internal audit knows the correct balance sheet. but what is also true is that prior to 1997, cpf interest rates r consistently lower than us 10 yr treasuries with a difference varying between 0.5% to 9%. under this cheap interest rate environment, it is near impossible to pay the 3% oa interest rate with risk free us govies alone. wahahahhahahahha

Bigbird
Philip Ang said he got the table from CPF annual report 2019 (link at the top of his FB post)! So those within the bracket of 55-60 yo have a balance ~S$60B & 60-65yo balance is ~S$40B!!! That's about S$100B ! My assumption. Due to the shortfall of local born working adults >23yo, the voG injected FTs as 1 of the measures to supplement the "$$$ shortfall"! The other measures are the medilife & New Insurance scheme. Are the "voG" really concerned about the S$100B sum withdrawals? Edited October 3, 2020 by Bigbird
