Such a move would pose a grave threat to regional stability and to the political independence of many Southeast Asian nations. An armed Chinese presence on Cambodian soil would violate Cambodia’s constitution, as well as the 1991 Paris Peace Agreements that ended its long civil war. To be sure, Beijing is Cambodia’s largest source of aid, credit, and investment, and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen’s corrupt, authoritarian regime relies heavily on Chinese patronage. But allowing Chinese troops in Cambodia is a political “red line” that Hun Sen cannot risk crossing, at least publicly. socrates469bc Posted June 14, 2020 Share Posted June 14, 2020 (edited) the khmers not so dumb. they know the thais will not allow the tiongs into gulf of siam while the viets will not be too song with tiong navy threatening their economic center of saigon. got one kumgong atk, told me that tiongland can convince bkk to build the kral canal. i told him no thai govt will allow the kral canal as this will mean southern siam seceding from siam proper. majority of tiong kias r really kumgong until not hope.
