Some spare money $100-200k

Duration 1yr

What do u think of MAS Treasury Bills ?

Or any other low risk investments besides Gold? FD?

@socrates469bc  or any investment guru!

Note: please dont do temasick - buy high & sell low!  ok!!!

split the 100k or 200k into 24 tranches and place 1 tranche into 6mths fd every week for the next 24 weeks.

then repeat cycle.

or alternatively, buy into usd treasury etf for recurring income with possible maximum 15% capital loss over the next 2 yrs. however, if u hold long enough, ur dividends will more than cover any losses since u benefit from higher us interest rates.

since ur fund size not huge enough to buy 1 piece of 3mth usd t bill.

1) Thank u!! FD:  is this is like DCM approach as well?

2) USD treasury etf ,  Average effective maturity is 2 yrs leh?   Any less "possible maximum 15% capital loss over the next 2 yrs. "!

This USD etf 1 lot is 1,000?  Am not familiar with US market leh.

3) How much is "1 piece of 3mth usd t bill"?

1) totally different. fd is a cheap funding source for banks from the joe-on-the-street while dcm is for corps or uhnwi.

2) anything less than 3yrs is considered short term liao. if really buy 3mths t-bills b4 2020, these fixed income funds really has nothing to jiak or distribute as dividends.

in a rising interest rate environment, fixed income funds confirmed will have capital losses in the next 2yrs. magnitude will depends on the bonds in the etf, thats why limpeh is adopting a watch-first approach.

3) if bird didi wants to buy us t bills via local banks, limpeh believe they will be asking u to buy in usd250k or more per transaction since they have to handle alot of paperworks.

if bird didi want to buy as individual, u need to have a us tax id.

OK. Like that i dont qualify liao!

1) For MAS T-bills, if u can park the money for 1yr, would u buy 6mths (2 purchase cycle) or 1yr straight?

2) If buying $100K would u buy in 1 lump sum or do it as DCA (like what u recommended for FD)?  Have never bough T-bills before.

rising rates environment means no point locking in large amount for whole yr.

in fixed income, this strategy in which limpeh place small tranches in different maturing bonds/t-bills/fd is called laddering.

this is to minimize limpeh's interest rate risk while maximizing coupon gains.

Kam sia for your advise!

If i'm not wrong the fed interest hike will go up till end of last quarter and stabilize  next yr if china & russia dont cause more issues.

What's your feel?

Will the Fed ever cut interest rates?

Probably not anytime soon. The Fed hasn’t even moved the fed funds rate above its “neutral rate” yet, which it has said needs to happen. Fed members’ June forecasts showed the median federal funds rate running slightly below 4% through the end of 2023, and it’s currently only between 2.25% and 2.5%.

Am think of bidding for 3.1% interest price this week.

Dont know can get a not!

Is it too aggresive?

bird didi's volume too small to impact on the overall bidding.

just use sora 6mths+200 basis can liao.

dont go and contribute to increasing the cut-off yield.

alternatively, limpeh will go for non-competitive to secure the bills.
