    • Indonesia’s energy minister Bahlil Lahadalia has warned that the government could suspend energy exports to countries it considers disrespectful, as President Prabowo Subianto pushes to prioritise domestic resource needs and secure greater economic benefits from energy trade.   https://news.theonlinecitizen.com/2026/10/23/indonesia-warns-it-could-halt-energy-exports-to-countries-that-show-disrespect   Indonesia Could Halt Energy Exports to "Disrespectful" Countries — Full Details 🇮🇩⚡️       📅 When & Who   - Date: Thursday, 22 October 2026  - Speaker: Bahlil Lahadalia — Indonesia's Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources, also Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition  - Setting: Commissioning ceremony of gas production facilities (Maha-South Hub, Makassar Strait)  - Follow-up: Follows President Prabowo Subianto's cabinet directive on Wednesday, 21 Oct, to protect natural resources and prioritise domestic needs        🗣️ What Was Said   "I will conduct an evaluation. I will not hesitate to consider stopping exports to countries that do not respect Indonesia."    "Don't come begging when you need something, but when there is another issue that can actually be discussed, behave like a relative who has no manners. This is what we do not want."    Bahlil emphasised:   - Disagreements should be resolved through dialogue and mutual respect  - Indonesia remains willing to maintain exports with countries that treat it as an equal  - No specific country was named as a target  - Unclear whether this applies to existing contracts, future renewals, or both        🧭 Policy Context — President Prabowo's Direction   "Our natural resources are like our blood. If our blood keeps leaking, our body cannot survive."    Prabowo framed this as a "survival" imperative — Indonesia must safeguard its natural wealth and ensure domestic supply comes first before exporting . On Wednesday evening, Bahlil first raised the possibility of not renewing gas contracts with neighbouring countries to secure domestic needs — then broadened this to the "respect" element the next day.       📊 Who Buys Indonesian Gas (2025 volumes)   Country LNG/pipe gas received  🇯🇵 Japan ~3.8 million tonnes  🇨🇳 China ~3.79 million tonnes  🇸🇬 Singapore ~3.22 million tonnes  🇰🇷 South Korea ~2.27 million tonnes  🇹🇭 Thailand / 🇵🇭 Philippines smaller volumes        🇸🇬 Singapore — Key Exposure   - Indonesia is one of Singapore's main natural gas suppliers — pipeline contracts expire end-2028  - Singapore's EMA has granted conditional licences to 6 projects to import low-carbon electricity from Indonesia — total 3 GW capacity  - Electricity export talks still ongoing — Bahlil noted on 19 Oct that pricing differences remain unresolved  - Singapore is actively working to diversify its energy sources and strengthen long-term security  - Recent regional tensions — including transboundary haze and Singapore's investigations into Indonesian firms linked to forest fires — may be in the background, though Bahlil did not link them directly        ⚠️ Important Notes   - No contracts have been cancelled — this is a warning and a review process  - Indonesia says it will still create new contracts from scratch for countries that treat it well  - The stance ties energy trade directly to bilateral relations and respect, a notable hardening of resource nationalism under Prabowo  - Observers warn the policy could backfire — hurting Indonesia's own revenue and investment climate
    • Actually what Indo do is nothing new. Our Northern neighbour last time use water instead of gas. Different types but concept same.
    • JOHOR: Longstanding biscuit maker Lee Biscuits will shutter its factory in Pontian, Johor, at the end of October, Malaysian media reported on Thursday (Oct 22).  According to the New Straits Times, the closure is part of a restructuring exercise by its parent group, which is reportedly exiting snack manufacturing to consolidate its assets and focus on its core holdings, which include rubber and palm oil operations.  Suppliers and customers began receiving notices regarding the halt in production last month. The factory will also lay off its employees.  Malaysian Chinese news outlet China Press reported that about 300 employees will continue to hold their posts until the end of this month; they are mainly responsible for cleaning and related work on the factory premises and related work.  Speaking to China Press on Thursday, the factory’s senior management said that after the factory decided to cease operations, it held numerous warehouse clearance sales over the past two weeks, and that it has sold out all of its biscuit inventory.  A check by CNA on Friday showed that the factory's official website has been taken offline. The company's social media pages were also unavailable.  Headquartered in Pontian, Lee Biscuits was founded by businessman and philanthropist Lee Kong Chian. The brand is known for products such as Marie biscuits, saltine crackers, iced gem biscuits and lemon sandwich biscuits.  The brand originated in Singapore before production was moved to Tampoi in Johor Bahru in 1995. It later moved to Pontian in 2005.  In 2023, the group closed a decades-old pineapple canning factory in Skudai as it shifted its focus to oil palm cultivation. The closure drew widespread attention, with large crowds of people queuing up to snap up its pineapple water.   https://www.channelnewsasia.com/asia/lee-biscuits-maker-shutters-pontian-johor-factory-marie-6485296
