Full Case Details — 7 Weeks' Jail for Man Who Paid for Services of 16-Year-Old
👤 Accused
Muhammad ‘Aizat Khalis Daud, 38, Singaporean
⚖️ Charge
- One count of engaging the sexual services of a person below 18 years old, under Section 376B(1) of Singapore’s Penal Code
- He pleaded guilty to the charge
📅 Sentencing Date
- 6 October 2026
📌 What Happened
- Early 2024: Khalis saw a message advertising sexual services in a Telegram group. He contacted the advertiser and agreed to pay $150
- Around 14 February 2024: He met the girl at the void deck of a Geylang Bahru block of flats. She told him she was 21 years old — in fact, she was 16
- He did not take any steps to verify her age beyond asking
- He transferred $150 via PayNow to a number she provided. They entered a rented car at ~12:45 PM
- He drove to a secluded spot and tried but failed to have protected sex with her — no successful penetrative sexual conduct occurred
- He was arrested 12 September 2024
⚖️ Prosecution & Defence Submissions
- Prosecution (DPP Lu Huiyi): Sought 8–9 weeks jail. Emphasised the ~20-year age gap and that he accepted her stated age without verification
- Defence (Kevin Liew / Gloria James-Civetta & Co): Asked for 4–6 weeks, citing:
- He had asked her age and was told 21
- No successful penetrative conduct
🔨 Sentence
- 7 weeks’ imprisonment
- Bail set at $15,000
- Scheduled to begin serving sentence 10 November 2026

⚖️ Legal Context
- Obtaining sexual services from anyone under 18 carries a maximum penalty of 7 years’ jail, fine, or both
- The victim’s stated age does not excuse the offender — the law imposes a duty to verify
