    • My personal opinion and speaking from experience   It is stupid to be part of any police or military. You cannot quit once you sign up. If they send you to certain deaths, you have to go. Saying no also means they put you to death.   Imagine if you are police and your wife and children happen to participate in some thing that the power says is not allowed. You are asked to shoot on sight. If you are military and they want you to kill innocent women and child, you have to do it or else face the firing squad.   Old people use to say. Good sons dont join police (some Cantonese saying -hou cai mo tong cai)

    • 🍴 Queenstown coffee shop owner appeals for help after 3 blackouts in 5 days: 'All the food is wasted'   A coffee shop in Queenstown was reportedly hit with three blackouts in five days, two of which occurred on the same day on Tuesday (May 19).    READ: https://asia1.news/49Uqhtl   Follow @AsiaOnecom for all the latest updates.   It is distressing to hear about the situation facing the coffee shop owner in Queenstown. Frequent power outages can be devastating for F&B businesses, leading to significant financial losses from spoiled inventory and disrupted operations.   Based on the context of such incidents in Singapore, here is a summary of the situation and the typical steps taken:   Summary of the Incident The coffee shop experienced three blackouts within a five-day window, including two in a single day. The owner expressed deep frustration as the lack of refrigeration led to the wastage of large quantities of food, impacting both the business's bottom line and the livelihoods of the stallholders.   Potential Causes and Recourse   - Infrastructure Issues: Frequent outages in a specific building often point to faulty internal wiring or an overloaded electrical system. If the issue is external, it may involve the power grid maintained by SP Group. - Seeking Compensation: Business owners in this position typically reach out to their landlords or the building management to investigate if the fault lies within the premises' infrastructure. - Insurance: Most F&B businesses carry insurance that covers "deterioration of stock" due to power failure, which may help mitigate the financial hit.   How the Community Can Help When local businesses face such crises, the community often rallies by:   - Spreading awareness to put pressure on relevant authorities or landlords to fix the underlying electrical issues. - Patronizing the shop once power is stabilized to help the owner recover lost revenue.
