He called it "exorbitant".
A man and his wife were appalled that she paid $24.22 for the mala xiangguo she ordered for herself at Nex foodcourt on April 4.
Sharing a photo of the plate of food, Stomper Raymond said his wife selected for her mala a pack od noodles, tau pok, vegetables and mushrooms from the Xiao Man Niu Mala Xiang Guo stall.
"No meat was added at all," said the Stomper. "We were appalled when the bill came up to $24.
"For comparison, we paid the same amount for two people share with pork belly and beef tripe at Ri Ri Hong in Chinatown just two weeks earlier.
"And to make things worse, I ordered a plate of ayam panggang from the Indonesia Riverside stall for only $7.80, which was still reasonable."
The Stomper asked: "How can they charge $24 for just vegetables for one person?"
The answer is in the photo of the receipt he shared.
The first item on the receipt is 950g of "others", presumably the noodles and tau pok, which cost $9.50. That means it was $1 per 100g for "others".
Next are the 440g vegetables, which at $2.20 per 100g, cost 9.68.
The last item is the 180g of mushrooms, which cost $5.04. That means it was priced at a whopping $3 per 100g.
And that was how it came to a total of $24.22.
