Taking us back on a trip down nostalgia, singer Shael Oswal, the voice behind the 2006 hit Punjabi song ‘Hiriye’ enjoyed a wonderful meal with our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani at Saar Cafe in Mumbai. Now back with another heart-touching number ‘Rabba Kare,’ Shael melodiously crooned for us and even shared his travel experiences in Singapore and Dubai.
Shael Oswal Slams Singapore For Not Being ‘Warm’ As A Nation
While chatting with Kamiya Jani, Shael Oswal recollected his time in Singapore. The singer stayed with his family in the Southeast Asian country for 15 years before recently relocating to Dubai. He compared his time in the two cities, particularly the attitude of the residents. “Singapore.. I’m sorry, I’m not being racist but they have poker faces,” Shael expressed candidly.
Despite living in Singapore for 15 years and Dubai for 6 months, he felt more at home in the UAE. Kamiya asked him to last out the stark differences between the two countries. He said the “warmness” was the main difference between Singapore and Dubai.
Shael says, “Singapore is not warm. It’s very artificial… to the point.” The Hiriye singer further adds, “Smile nahin hai waha logo ke face par waha par. Mechanical hai log waha par (People don’t have smiles on their faces. They are very mechanical).” Shael also slammed the nation’s National Services rule. Shael said that he didn’t take a PR as his son would have to go for National Services mandatorily.
Expressed His Love For Dubai
He questioned why his kid needs to be forced to “break that circle of education” to go for the services. Instead, the singer hailed Dubai and called it “experimental” as a city and said he enjoys his time there. He even shared that his cook of many years had officially become an Emirati. Through his example, Shael wanted to point out how accepting Dubai is of its residents.
