Homelander
Set to be the main attraction at the soon to be opened Gundam Factory Yokohama complex, the life-size RX-78 Gundam stands 59 feet tall and weighs 55,000 pounds. In planning and development stages since 2014, the impressive feat of construction was completed with the recent “head installing ceremony.” On July 29, a jotoshiki ceremony (head installing ceremony) saw Shinto priests blessing the Gundam’s 55,000-pound head before it was secured onto the body. The fully completed Gundam features a mechanical skeleton underneath its outer casing which will allow it to use its arms and legs. With the Coronavirus pandemic canceling early previews sit for this summer, Gundam Factory Yokohama is currently scheduled to have its grand opening sometime in October.
