lebanon was once called paris/switzerland of the mid-east.

 

this was how lebanon looked like b4 1975.

then plo, after being kicked out of jordan in 1970, regrouped in lebanon.

 

taking advantage of the military weakness of lebanon and the fragile political scene, plo started running rampage across the country.

 

and as they said, the rest is history.

despite the pervasive corruption of the shah, women were generally allowed western style freedom, entertainment and more or less a constitution.

as always, the masses have the tendency to want a good screw in the pgd and believed in the ayatollahs.

 

thus the people got fed up with the shah, overthrew him and installed the ayatollahs.

 

as it turns out, the ayatollahs were not much better than the shah.

 

besides being corrupt, they curtailed women's freedom and basically rule by their interpretation of the holy book.
