also to add,

 

Disinfecting Water Using Calcium Hypochlorite. Jay Whimpey, P.E.  recommends 1 1/2 Tablespoons per cup of water. The military standard is 1 1/2 teaspoons per cup of water for a 5% stock solution.

 

 

this is to make bleach, to Disinfect water. so in short use Calcium Hypochlorite to make bleach then add 2 to 4 drop (clear water 2 drop, cloudy, unknow souce (like river,canal) of water 4 drop) of the bleach to every 946ml of water.

 

 

why not go supermarket to buy bleach, the bleach you see one is sodium Hypochlorite, they have very short shelf life of 6 month, it effectiveness  will get weaker and weaker .

 

Calcium Hypochlorite have a ten year shelf life. 

 

 

so to make clean drinking water from dirty water sources like river, etc...... use a pre filter like Millbank bag (1 mirco size) then add home make bleach (Calcium Hypochlorite) then use a gravity filter to filter the water more into drinking water

 

 

 

there many way to Disinfecting water using Calcium Hypochlorite, lodine, solar UV, boil etc.........)
