The_King
Do you remember the fanfare surrounding the opening of TaiWan Night Markets in Jul 2023? After just 8 months of operations, the Taiwanese food court in Cineleisure Orchard is slated to close on 31 Mar 2024. TaiWan Night Markets - Storefront The news of TaiWan Night Markets’s forthcoming closure was first publicised via a post on the Singapore Atrium Sale Facebook page on 25 Mar 2024. However, there has yet to be an official announcement or update on the food court’s website and social media pages. Helmed by the locally-renowned Fei Siong Group, TaiWan Night Markets first opened its doors at Cineleisure Orchard on 28 Jul 2023. It’s touted as Singapore’s first and only food court dedicated to Taiwanese street food and local delights. Its premises sprawl a whole 8,000 sq ft, complete with food kiosks and a dining area designed to look like a Taiwanese night market. Its grand opening was a wildly popular affair, with throngs of Singaporeans visiting the food court for a taste of Taiwan. Don’t be disheartened by their closure, though; you’ve got till the end of the week to swing by for its last hurrah. TaiWan Night Markets - Scallion Pancake You can’t go without indulging in some iconic Taiwanese street food. For one, 老陳蔥油餅 has 11 types of scallion pancakes for you to choose from, including the fragrant Fried Egg Scallion Pancake with Chicken Chop & Lettuce (S$8). TaiWan Night Markets - Sweet Potato Balls Another must-try is the crowd-favourite Sweet Potato Balls (S$6 for 12 pieces) from 台灣QQ地瓜球. Other delectable street food choices include oyster omelette, oyster mee sua and pan-fried dumplings, to name a few. TaiWan Night Markets - Taiwanese Style Ice Cream Popiah There is no better time to try the delightfully peculiar Peanut Crunchy Ice Cream Rolls with Ice Cream (S$5), also known as Taiwanese-style ice cream popiah. These rolls are loaded with sweet peanut candy, ice cream and—believe it or not—coriander. They’re the perfect sweet finish to your meal; whether you’re a coriander lover or not. There’s so much that TaiWan Night Markets has to offer and for you to check out before they shut. It’s truly a pity that their presence was so short-lived, and we’ll wait on the edge of our seats for any upcoming updates. Keep an eye on their socials! 2 1
