Five rape minor in front of mother

A 15-year-old girl from Dumka was allegedly gang raped by five men in front of her mother on Sunday night in Deoghar district. The girl's mother was also reportedly beaten up by the men for resisting the crime against her daughter. So far, two are in police custody and raids are on to trace four more, police said. Five committed the crime, while one was an accomplice, police added.

The girl, who is a dancer, had come to Deoghar to perform in a show at a household in a village. "Since the show got cancelled at the last moment, the girl and her mother were returning to Madhupur sub-divisional headquarters on foot when it happened," police said.
Two suspects identified, in police custody

In her FIR on Monday, the girl said, "When we were crossing an abandoned stretch, six men intercepted us on two motorcycles and forcefully took me to nearby Bahadurpur forest. Five of them raped me one by one in front of my mother. She too was severely beaten up for resisting them. After the harrowing incident, we somehow managed to reach Madhupur late Sunday night and narrated the incident to the police."
The police then took them to a local sub-divisional hospital for preliminary treatment. According to the duo, the criminals also robbed them of Rs 5,000, a mobile phone and their Aadhaar cards.
Deoghar SP Subhash Chandra Jaat said that two suspects have been identified and apprehended by the police. "The report of the girl's medical examination is awaited. She is currently undergoing treatment," he said. An SIT has been constituted to probe and arrest the culprits.

"Pocso act has been invoked against the accused apart from different sections of the IPC in the FIR," the SP added.
