as long as during upload it is not flagged out as over signature limits should be ok right?

technically the limits are automatically enforced if the content is uploaded directly on our platform. in this case it is linked to a remote content, so we just have to be sensible members to ensure its of a decently small size.

i wont be hard enforcing the size as long as its reasonable, but the content definitely will have to be SFW.

That's a lot of bodies. Coming from maintaining aging hardware in an IT environment, you don't want to purchase hardware from the same brand and place at the same time, they have a habit of failing at the same time and you're stuck without backups. Roping in the king of server rooms @kokleong for his views.

sorry im just not good with home appliances where N = 2 :umchio:

In all honesty, I've benefitted a lot from PAP's policies and made most of my fortune thanks to them. I just felt irked because people like you are still getting bullied. I guess you deserve it.

    PAP wansui:lol:

can you clarify your stand when you return?

I dont usually read such content nor am i in any position to judge SG politics but at least be consistent if you have beef with anyone.

  4. @zendude your multiple flagging over time have been duly noted, but the context of said member's replies are more satire (and ironically in agreement) than personal attack, at least that's the way i see it.

should you think otherwise, feel free to add one to your ignore list.

in any case both you and @socrates469bc can stop this unproductive argument now; it does nobody any good.

    @kokleong

Thank you for the forum. Annual gratitude is in order.

Will be good if we can store more photos.

    Spoiler

Thank you for your feedback. I look forward to more "uneventful" years ahead

Do pardon my long answer to your comment as it may not be as straightforward as it seems.

As you can see, at present we allocate close to 20MB storage per member.

Firstly, in my opinion this is quite generous (do let me know otherwise), taking into account our focus on site performance, general "mobility" and disaster recovery scenarios.

Secondly, we also need to consider total resource usage as a result when storing more media content locally, ie. CPU , storage, disk read/write and bandwidth usage increments, since we aren't backed by "insert rich company here" there is a need to go as lean on the servers as we can while not sacrificing speed and reliability. Elon please notice me

Lastly, this is certainly not directed at you (not that I have had time to check), but there are lots of NSFW content being posted here. While I have been as unambiguous as I could with the rules, many members choose to test the waters and that places administrative strain in moderating those and put unnecessary liability on us especially when we focus on your privacy. Much as I would love to take the easy way out and delete any infringing threads altogether, it sends no joy to me nor the fun loving members who love to push the boundaries.

Also, I may be wrong, but looking at behavioral perspective it seems regardless of the allocation; 20, 50 or 100MB eventually it will be filled up and more is needed, hence the usage of 3rd party image hosts again.

Why not do it from the start and at least have the ownership of it and management from one location, say from imgur.com?

To all members, do let me know what you think, maybe we can even create photo clubs so you can dump pictures there however this will most certainly require community funding due to licensing and of course, bandwidth and storage.

Meanwhile, cheers and Merry Xmas :)
