    • Stomper Disgusted was already in line at a yong tau foo stall in Ubi when something she saw ruined her appetite. An employee at the stall had purportedly grabbed a serving tray from the stack meant for customers’ use and placed yong tau foo ingredients directly on it. When approached by the Stomper, the employee was said to be dismissive and continued with her work. Employee said she had wiped the tray, but nobody saw it According to the Stomper, the incident happened at a coffee shop in Ubi at about 1.50pm on Oct 15. Upon seeing the employee pick up the tray and place food on it, the Stomper approached her but was reportedly “scoffed at”.   “She said she had wiped the tray, but she hadn’t, and the whole incident was witnessed by another customer,” said Disgusted.   The other customer apparently approached the employee too and mentioned that improper food handling could get the stall owner in trouble. However, their advice fell on deaf ears as the employee continued with her work, arranging the yong tau foo ingredients on the allegedly unclean tray.     The employee told customers who approached her that she had cleaned the tray before using it.     “How disgusting and unhygienic is the food handler?” remarked the Stomper. She added: “I am disgusted and almost vomited. There was mild stomach upset. I will not patronise the stall again.” SFA looking into incident While the Stomper had patronised the stall’s other outlets before, she claimed that this was her first time at the Ubi branch and her first unpleasant encounter. She wondered: “Is there a possibility to reassign her work so that she doesn’t handle food? If the food is prepared behind closed doors, I wonder what she might do.” In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) stated that is looking into the matter. The agency emphasised that it will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained. “Food safety is a joint responsibility. While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their party by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices. “Food operators should also ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained,” SFA said. Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices by food operators should report to SFA via the online feedback form.

    • Indonesia will send its Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia to travel to India and China to secure more gasoline supplies, as Jakarta wants to diversify away from Singapore. Indonesia and Singapore are now facing fresh strains from Jakarta’s energy moves and transboundary toxic smog. Speaking to the press, Bahlil said Monday that Indonesia had been importing RON 90 — the gasoline with a minimum 90-octane — from its “neighbor”, while avoiding mentioning Singapore. He then unveiled plans to secure alternatives in a string of overseas trips starting this week.   “I will travel to several countries, including India and China, to ensure supplies,” Bahlil said in Jakarta.    He did not disclose the volume Jakarta planned to order. Bahlil said that he would aim for “long-term contracts” at President Prabowo Subianto’s behest. Singapore — known as a major oil refining hub — supplies over half of Indonesia’s gasoline, according to past government statements. Central statistics agency BPS reported Singapore made up 28.36% of the oil and gas imports in the first half of 2026.   Bahlil’s trip came shortly after Indonesia slashed its Singapore-bound pipeline gas exports by about 31 billion British thermal units per day (BBTUD), starting Saturday. As the city-state weighs in on seeking remedies, Bahlil claimed that Indonesia had not breached its contracts.   “The 31 BBTUD cut still falls under the contract’s allowable limit, which is between 91 and 92 [BBTUD],” Bahlil told the same presser.     “Don’t lecture us about honoring contracts.”   Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan is expected to visit his Indonesian counterpart Arrmanatha Nasir on Tuesday afternoon amid the setbacks.   Singapore has not announced any retaliatory measures, as its authorities claim that the reductions are only about 2% of its daily gas demand and that electricity prices will likely remain unscathed. Its prime minister Lawrence Wong, however, had called on gas suppliers to “honor their commitments”.   https://jakartaglobe.id/business/indonesia-seeks-indian-chinese-gasoline-as-singapore-alternatives
