Two other related charges were taken into consideration during sentencing. The identity of the victim is protected by court order.       Background & Offence   - The victim, a 45-year-old Korean woman, met the man on Tinder in 2022 and began dating. - When they were in different countries, they kept in touch via video calls, including nude sessions. - The victim repeatedly stated she did NOT want to be recorded and asked him to confirm he wasn’t recording. He lied, claiming he didn’t know how to record his screen. - Feb–Oct 2023: He secretly recorded 17 nude videos of her, each 7 to 55 minutes long. He stored them on a hard drive at his Singapore home for his own sexual gratification. - They broke up in January 2024, and he soon began a new relationship.       Discovery & Police Report   - 6 Jan 2024: His new 37-year-old girlfriend found the hard drive while cleaning his home. - Next day: She confronted him and demanded he delete the videos. He destroyed the hard drive to eliminate evidence — unaware she had already made copies. - 15 May 2024: The new girlfriend publicly exposed him on his social media. - The ex-girlfriend learned of this, contacted him, and said she couldn’t sleep, felt her life was ruined, and had suicidal thoughts. He dismissed her claims as “absurd and laughable,” said he’d destroyed evidence, and would never admit to the recordings. - The new girlfriend handed the copied videos to the police. The ex-girlfriend also filed a police report, fearing damage to her reputation and career.       Court Proceedings & Sentence   - Defence arguments: - He acted out of a desire to maintain an emotional connection with her. - He had already compensated the victim. - Medical report cited adjustment disorder as a stress response after the incident. - Prosecution countered: - The medical report was submitted two years after the offences with little supporting evidence. - He knowingly and repeatedly committed the crime after she explicitly objected, abusing her trust. - Prosecution sought 3.5 months’ jail. - Outcome: He was sentenced to 3 months’ imprisonment.
