Yoga Inc has ceased operations at its two remaining Singapore studios with immediate effect, according to instructors who received a text message early on Friday, Sept 18.
The closure affects its studios at SAFRA Punggol and Our Tampines Hub, the remaining two locations listed on Yoga Inc’s website.
A check of the studio’s online booking system at about 9.50am showed that every class displayed for the week at both locations had been marked “Cancelled”.
I found no closure notice on Yoga Inc’s website or official Instagram account at the time of writing. Calls I placed to both studios could not be connected. However, the studio’s website remained online and continued to display information about classes and packages.
The studio’s latest Instagram post, dated July 6, 2026, advertised 10 class credits for S$210.
Teachers expressed shock on social media after receiving the news.
“It happened… The studio ceased its operations with immediate effect. WOW,” wrote instructor Sunnie Kai Fen, who has taught at Yoga Inc since 2022.
Kai Fen said she had recently wondered what might happen to the studio following the closure of other major yoga brands. Teachers received the message announcing Yoga Inc’s closure just five minutes before she published her post, she said.
Another instructor confirmed receiving the message but declined to be interviewed. She said: “I am already very tired from replying my students and informing them what happened.”
I also received a forwarded message from a source who said it had come from another Yoga Inc teacher.
The message said “INC” would no longer be operating as of Friday and directed questions to an email address using the revolution.com.sg domain. Emails sent to the Revolution domain address on Friday morning seeking comment went unanswered at the time of publication.
It is not yet clear what will happen to members’ unused class packages, whether alternative arrangements will be offered or whether any payments remain outstanding to instructors. The reason for the closure is also unknown.
Another abrupt industry exit
Yoga Inc’s closure comes just over a week after True Fitness and True Yoga were placed into provisional liquidation on Sept 10, forcing the closure of their Singapore clubs.
The Consumers Association of Singapore received 241 complaints involving more than S$609,000 in reported losses from unused memberships, packages and services following that closure, according to CNA.
Yoga Inc’s exit adds to a decade of closures and consolidation across Singapore’s yoga and boutique-fitness sector. Brands including Pure Yoga, Sweatbox, Real Yoga, Yoga+, Superfly Yoga and Lab Studios have closed outlets, reduced their footprints or left the yoga market in recent years.
Pure Yoga, for example, closed its Suntec City studio in October 2023 after earlier closures at Republic Plaza and other locations, leaving it with two Singapore locations at the time, CNA reported.
The latest closures have renewed attention on the risks of prepaid packages and the difficult economics of maintaining physical studios, where rent, staffing, utilities and other fixed costs continue even when classes are not full.
From an impulsive start to five studios
Yoga Inc was founded in 2013 by former flight attendant and yoga instructor Ashly Lou. In a 2021 interview with SG Lifestyle, Lou said she had taught for only four months when she considered buying the studio where she practised.
She had about S$200,000 in savings but walked away after its owners asked for at least S$500,000. A month later, she found a space on Guillemard Road and launched Yoga Inc herself.
By April 2021, the business had expanded to five studios and 33 instructors. But Lou told SG Lifestyle that she had no further expansion plans and was looking for a buyer who shared her passion for yoga, allowing her to “semi-retire” and pursue other interests.
The network of studios subsequently contracted. Studios at Guillemard, Tiong Bahru, The Star Vista and Bedok closed over the following years, leaving Punggol and Tampines as Yoga Inc’s remaining two locations.
Questions over Yoga Inc’s ownership
Company records show that the corporate entity that ran Yoga Inc for most of its existence has been wound down.
Yoga Inc. Pte. Ltd., incorporated on Oct 1, 2013 under UEN 201326522H, appears to have been struck off the register on March 26, 2026. Its registered address was 9 Sentul Crescent, #01-03 — the SAFRA Punggol unit that remained one of the studio's two operating locations until Friday.
A source told me that indoor-cycling operator Revolution acquired Yoga Inc in 2024. I was not able to independently verify that a sale took place, and I could find no public acquisition announcement or corporate disclosure confirming it.
However, several details point to some form of connection between the two businesses.
The forwarded closure message directs employees and members to a Revolution email address, and a domain-registration record also appeared to associate yogainc.sg with Rhythm Studios Pte Ltd. Revolution’s official privacy statement identifies Rhythm Studios Pte Ltd as the company under which Revolution operates.
Yoga Inc’s own terms and conditions, last updated on Aug 1, 2025, describe Yoga Inc as “a brand under Studio9 Pte Ltd”.
Public company-directory records show that Studio9 was incorporated on Aug 4, 2024, and is registered at 182 Cecil Street, #02-01, Frasers Tower — the same address Revolution lists for its Tanjong Pagar studio.
