Full Breakdown: Lihui’s Breakup Announcement & Alleged Red Flags
Who: Former Singapore Idol/online personality Steven Lim & girlfriend (online name Lihui) — together 1 year 2 months
When: Lihui announced breakup Aug 2 via 7-min TikTok (@lihuijapanlove), stating “There’s no way we will patch back anymore”; video hit 653k+ views, 22.6k reactions, 520 comments
🚩 Four Alleged Red Flags Lihui Listed
1. Overly insecure — accused her of cheating over small matters, e.g. claimed she was “flirting” with a male cashier
2. Calculative — constantly compared gifts, said her presents were “not good enough”; she shared she gave him $1k toward his car, Samsung foldable phone, Dior perfume, Braun Büffel wallet & outfits
3. Disregarded her boundaries — she told him not to livestream private relationship matters, but he did it anyway; “That is another reason I really cannot stand him”
4. Double standards — called her materialistic for spending her own money on branded bags, yet spent on luxury goods like a fancy car for himself
Clash Over the Chanel Bag Narrative
- Lim posted on their joint TikTok (@sarahstevenlove) claiming she threatened to break up unless he bought her an $8k–$10k Chanel bag, painting her as demanding he pay for everything
- Lihui spoke up to defend herself, saying she didn’t want to be labelled a gold digger
- Joint account bio updated to: “Official breakup channel — Yes we are not together anymore! But click follow stay tuned to see what happens.”
Online Reactions & Exchanges
- Most netizens backed Lihui: urged her not to reconcile, said she deserved better, called it “better late than never”
- Some supported Lim / said both had red flags
- Lim commented he was faithful, loyal, honest & reliable throughout the relationship
- Lihui replied: “Loyalty and keeping promises are bare minimum in a relationship but thank you for the memories and wishing you all the best.”
Lim’s Counter Perspective
He maintained the rift stemmed from the luxury bag demand & her expectation he cover all costs; shared he sent small daily monetary gifts & bought her an iPhone 17 Pro Max, argued he provided consistently.
The public split has played out fully on social media, with both sides sharing competing accounts & the joint channel teasing ongoing updates.

♻️ Updates to Singapore’s Beverage Container Return Scheme (Return Right)
Announced Aug 6, 2026 by BCRS Ltd, responding to public complaints about machine glitches, poor usability and recognition issues.
✅ Key Machine Improvements
- Redesigned UI: Made the “Tap for Refund” button far more visible
- Longer refund window: Timeout extended from 30 seconds → 1 minute
- Louder audio alerts: Boosted volume for successful transactions/card taps
- Technical fixes: Reducing avoidable errors, recalibrating container recognition, streamlining refund process
📊 Scheme Progress So Far
- Launched 1 April 2026, transition period ends 30 Sep 2026
- >1 million transactions, 5.5 million containers returned (55% plastic, 45% metal)
- Average per transaction rose from 2.8 → 5.9 containers
- Initial 1,070 machines deployed; 90% of HDB residents within 5-min walk
- +300 more machines coming to industrial estates, IHLs, tourist spots & worker dormitories; on track to double return points to ~2,000 in Year 1
🤝 Outreach & Support Efforts
- Seniors workshops: 12 sessions across Active Ageing Centres, helped 430+ seniors learn to use machines
- Roadshows: 6 heartland supermarket demos; 400+ more scheduled. Return Right Buddies assist shoppers & train staff
- Ambassadors: Deployed at busy HDB void deck machines
- School & campus programmes to engage youth & students
- Working with NEA to guide retailers, minimarts, F&B operators on scheme rules
📢 Background Complaints
Users reported machines failing to scan barcodes, missing refunds (e.g. counted fewer containers than inserted), rejecting valid marked containers, inconsistent operation. Tests also found containers sometimes only accepted when barcode facing up—operator noted this shouldn’t be required and is refining recognition.
Each eligible container gives 10¢ deposit refund via EZ-Link/SimplyGo/PAYLAH!. Only containers with official deposit mark qualify for refund once transition completes Oct 1 .
