A 55-year-old man was tasered and arrested in Bedok North after a tense standoff where he brandished a saw and refused to cooperate with law enforcement officers.
### The Incident
* **When & Where:** The incident took place on **Sunday afternoon, July 5, 2026, at about 3:25 PM** near a Housing and Development Board (HDB) block at **Block 539 Bedok North Street 3**.
* **The Confrontation:** The Singapore Police Force responded to a public call for assistance. Upon arrival, officers found the man aggressively swinging a saw around.
* **The Escalation:** Officers repeatedly ordered the man to drop the weapon. He refused to comply, ignored all warnings, and continued shouting incoherently at the officers.
### The Arrest & Subduing
* **Use of Taser:** To prevent any danger to the public and safely contain the situation without injuries, police officers deployed a Taser to incapacitate the man.
* **Armed Response:** Social media footage from onlookers showed a heavy police presence. At least seven officers surrounded the man on a road divider, with at least two officers clad in tactical gear and carrying rifles as a security measure.
* **Medical Transport:** The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was called to the scene. The man was placed on a stretcher—where he was seen sitting upright and calm—and transported fully conscious to **Changi General Hospital**. No other injuries were reported.

The 55-year-old man was officially arrested under multiple offenses:

2. **Possession of an offensive weapon in a public place**
3. **Suspected consumption of a controlled drug**
