    • Several workers from VVR Plant Engineering have alerted the authorities to claims of unpaid wages.   This is the 3rd firm linked to a company director who has reportedly left Singapore.    https://str.sg/pGGo   Here are the full details from *The Straits Times* report regarding the unpaid wages situation:   ### The Core Situation & The Director    * **The Director:** The central figure is **Ramu Palani Velu**, an Indian national and Singapore Permanent Resident (PR). He serves as a director for **seven different companies** in Singapore that provide air-conditioning, plumbing, and building services.    * **Current Status:** He is believed to have **left Singapore**. Multiple creditors have been showing up at his registered residential addresses (in Hillview and Marine Crescent) claiming unpaid loans and payment defaults. Efforts to contact him or his day-to-day manager (an Indian national named "Moorthy") have been unsuccessful.   ### The Affected Companies & Scope   While he is tied to seven entities, three specific firms have heavily surfaced due to worker complaints:    1. **KPA Engineering** (Air-con maintenance services)  2. **SK Industries**  3. **VVR Plant Engineering** (General contractor located in Pandan Loop)   *Note on VVR Plant Engineering:* Ramu bought VVR Plant Engineering in 2025 from its previous owners. The previous owners sold it during a family crisis, noting that the company was highly valued because it held specific, hard-to-obtain work permits required for the specialized process sector (allowing operations in restricted areas like Jurong Island).   Other entities registered by Ramu include Comfort Air Engineering, KMS Integrated, GM Integrated, and HVS Industries.   ### The Impact on Workers    * **Scope:** Around **400 migrant workers** (primarily from Bangladesh and India) across these firms have been left stranded without pay for months.    * **Worker Testimony:** Affected workers report not being paid for up to three months. Many earn around $800 a month and rely entirely on sending $500 to $600 back home to support their families.   ### Authorities and Assistance    * **Government Investigation:** The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management (TADM) are actively investigating KPA Engineering and SK Industries for employment breaches and are attempting to track down the employers.    * **Ground Support:** NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng, Minister of State for Manpower Dinesh Vasu Dash, and the Migrant Workers' Centre (MWC) met with the affected workers at Tuas View Dormitory.    * **Job Matching:** NTUC and tripartite partners have been working to secure alternative employment for the affected men, finding over 150 immediate job openings across 40 firms to help match and transfer the workers.
