This team needs a lot of work done.   You noticed since last summer we stopped throwing silly money? And all four signings last summer were a sign of good recruitment. Similar profile: players who only want United and don’t command silly fees.   Gone are the days where we negotiate one by one. Remember we courted Fabregas, or FDJ over an entire summar, only to scramble last min for Fellaini and Casemiro etc?   The current way is negotiate with a few targets, then decide and zoom in so we don’t get held ransom. For eg, we are speaking to a few midfield targets. If someone wants to play punk, we move on to the next target straight away and close the deal   Also, now we try to do business early. So prices don’t increase later when they sense we are desperate. Remember how Cunha deal was done even before season ended?   Amorim did a great job in clearing deadwood for us and uniting the dressing room. If we can have another successful summer we are on track.

We need depth next season. Sesko is still our first choice but an experienced backup will be useful. It is always beneficial to learn from an experienced player during training sessions.   That’s the problem we always had with our youngsters for the past decade. No mentoring figure in the dressing room and all went astray. Sesko can’t play every game. Someone like Lewa, Mateta or even Welbeck will help to take the heat off him while he develops.   Cannot make the same mistake with Hojlund where he is made to shoulder too much early on.
