A man in S'pore sought protection orders against his wife, alleging a pattern of abuse that included poking his testicles with acupuncture needles.   He also claimed that he was ordered to provide nightly massages, but was beaten with a stick when deemed unsatisfactory.   ➡ https://bit.ly/49j6XWq   Follow us @mothershipsg   In this case, a man in Singapore applied for a Personal Protection Order (PPO) and other court orders against his wife, alleging a pattern of extreme domestic abuse.   The Allegations of Abuse The husband claimed his wife subjected him to several forms of physical and psychological violence, including:   - Physical Assault: He alleged she poked his testicles with three acupuncture needles and threatened him with a 15cm kitchen knife. - Physical Punishment: He claimed he was forced to kneel and crawl around the house 100 times whenever she suspected him of infidelity. - Forced Labor & Beating: He alleged he had to give her nightly massages and was beaten with a massage stick if he did them incorrectly. - Financial Control: He claimed he had to hand over his entire salary, receiving only a S$4 to S$5 daily allowance for food.   The Court's Decision Magistrate Soh Kian Peng dismissed all applications, including the PPO, based on the following reasons:   - Lack of Necessity: Under the Women’s Charter, a PPO is only granted if it is "necessary for the protection" of the applicant. Since the husband had already moved out, cut off all contact, and hidden his new address, the judge ruled there was no longer a risk of further incidents. - Credibility Issues: The judge noted that he was not inclined to fully accept the husband’s version of events. - Separation as a Buffer: The court concluded that living apart and severing ties effectively "removed the fuel" for future conflict, making a formal protection order unnecessary.   The wife did not attend the hearing, as she was reportedly receiving medical treatment in China, but stated she would accept the court's outcome.
