A 31-year-old Singaporean man, Emerson Poh Jun Wei, was sentenced on May 18, 2026, to one year and nine months' jail and two strokes of the cane for possessing sexually explicit videos involving children.
The key details of the case are as follows:
- Discovery: During a police raid on September 7, 2023, authorities uncovered 79 videos stored across his mobile phone, laptop, and desktop computer.
- Victims: The videos featured 87 distinct and identifiable children, including a baby approximately two years old.
- Background: Poh began watching pornography at age 18 but progressively developed a preference and addiction for child abuse material involving young boys aged 12 to 16.
- Storage: He initially used Google Drive to store the files, but after his account was suspended for containing illegal material, he transferred the videos to his personal devices for easier access.
Poh was offered bail of S$25,000 and is scheduled to begin his prison sentence on June 15, 2026.
