In late 2025, Bruce Willis’s family confirmed that they intend to donate his brain to scientific research after his death. His wife, Emma Heming Willis, explained in her book The Unexpected Journey that the decision is meant to support research into frontotemporal dementia (FTD), the condition he was diagnosed with in early 2023.
The donation would allow scientists to examine postmortem brain tissue in detail, helping them study changes such as abnormal protein buildup and structural damage linked to the disease. Emma described the choice as emotionally challenging but important, saying the family hopes to turn a deeply personal experience into a meaningful contribution to medical research and future treatment development.
