A male Indian national has been arrested for allegedly attacking a female Indonesian national with an axe on Feb. 11, the police said in a news release.
Both the suspect and the victim are 30 years old, and are known to each other.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the man was the ex-boyfriend of the victim, a foreign domestic worker in Singapore.
He had allegedly attacked her with an axe in a three-storey private residence along Sims View.
He then left the scene with the weapon, but was arrested shortly after.
Conveyed to hospital
According to the police, they were alerted to the incident at about 7:05am that day.
The woman sustained injuries and was conveyed to the hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
The man will be charged in court on Feb. 13 with attempted murder.
If convicted, he can face life imprisonment and caning, or imprisonment for a term which may extend to 20 years and fine or caning, or both.
Police investigations are ongoing.
