A shopper went into the men's public restroom in Jem and was so revolted by the state of it that he took a video. Stomper Drew was in the Jurong East mall on Sept 7 some time after 11am. "I want to share this rather disgusting and disturbing clip I took at Jem mall gents' toilet. It's at level 2 right next to Donki," said the Stomper.   The video showed four urinals filled with a yellow liquid. "Jem's toilet was never pleasing in the first place. My wife also commented that the ladies' was not in good condition with several taps not in working condition."   When Stomp visited the men's room on Sept 11, a ladder was in front of a urinal under an open section in the false ceiling and two workmen were nearby. In the ladies' room, three stalls had the "under maintenance" sign on the door.   PHOTOS: STOMPS  Jem is owned by an Australian-based company called Lendlease. In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for Lendlease said on Sept 12: "We are aware of a recent situation at one of Jem's toilets, which was due to a choke and has since been rectified. "Our operations team conducts daily checks as part of maintenance routines, though occasional issues may occur due to heavy usage. "Jem's toilets are currently undergoing upgrading works in a phased and progressive approach and are scheduled to be completed by Q2 2026." The spokesperson added: "We seek the patience and understanding of all shoppers as we continue to enhance the overall experience that Jem has to offer."
