Unhappy with a passenger for speaking on the phone in his car, a private-hire vehicle (PHV) driver turned up the music so loud that it made the passenger's daughter cry.
Stomper HH shared a video of her "horrible experience" with the Gojek driver on Sept 2.
She had booked the ride from Bukit Panjang to Burlington Square and boarded the Toyota hybrid with her daughter at 5.19pm.
"I was talking on the phone rather softly with my parents," recounted the Stomper. "I had my headphones on as well. So their voices weren't heard.
"The driver kept increasing the radio volume. Finally, I politely told him to decrease the volume. He replied by saying, 'You talk softly, then I will reduce.'"
The passenger ended her call.
"Then I told him that he could have just told me to reduce my volume if I was disturbing him. He had the audacity to ask me to shush me and kept increasing the volume of the radio until it started to boom," said the Stomper.
"My daughter got really scared and the volume really got to her. He still didn't reduce the volume despite her crying."
In the video, the passenger was shouting to be heard over the loud music. She can be heard saying: "I'm very scared for my life."
The driver did not say anything.
She added: "When we reached my destination, I took time to collect my things and he just drove away with us still in the car. I had to shout at him to stop."
The Stomper made a complaint to Gojek.
"They just sent a generic email with no follow-up whatsoever," said the mother.
"My aim here is that no other customer should have that experience from anyone. This is not to say customers are always right.
"However, the fact that he behaved so rudely even after the child started to cry showed that he was an insensitive person."
Stomp has reached out to Gojek for more info.
