    • Oftentimes, when tourists come to Malaysia, they enjoy their time here and leave feeling satisfied with their choice to visit our country.     But, sadly, not all tourists feel the same.   A tourist from China took to her XiaoHongShu account to share her immense disappointment over her trip to Kuala Lumpur, while listing her out her various complaints about our city centre.     Source: XiaoHongShu She wrote, “Kuala Lumpur, I’m really disappointed in you.”   Here is her list of complaints about Kuala Lumpur: Firstly, the attractions.  She believes that the tourist attractions in KL, such as KLCC, Dataran Merdeka and Petaling Street, are overrated.   Source: XiaoHongShu “(These locations) are really far from what they appear in photos. When I got closer, I found the surrounding environment to be a bit noisy and chaotic, and I didn’t feel any unique, cultural atmosphere,”     “There were also some so-called popular check-in places, but after going there, I found that they were nothing more than that. They did not bring any unexpected surprises or shocks, and some even looked dilapidated and old. For example, Petaling Street feels like a small village in China,” she wrote.   Next, Indian people??    She wasn’t a fan of the fact that there were many Indian people around.   Source: XiaoHongShu “And why are there so many Indians here?! I always felt unsafe on the streets, even when taking a taxi or ordering a takeaway. There are also many (Indian) employees in stores and many of them wandering the streets,” “When I walked at an overpass, I saw them not wearing clothes, while lying at the stairs, ha ha ha. (Ah, my eyes),” she added.   Thirdly, just Kuala Lumpur in general? There were many things she pointed out here, from the city’s layout to the people’s behaviour.   Source: XioaHongShu “From time to time, rubbish can be seen being randomly discarded on the streets. The building layouts in some areas appear messy and lack an overall planning aesthetic,” “When walking on certain sections of the road, you can still see some uncivilised behaviour such as smoking cigarettes everywhere, running red lights and leaving rubbish carelessly. This is far from the image of an international city that I expected,” she explained.   Now, she’s coming after our food! To her, our local cuisine lacked ‘enjoyment’.   Source: XiaoHongShu “I tried various local delicacies with great joy, but was disappointed. The taste of many food items is not as delicious as the legend says,” “I am already a veteran of Guangzhou. Those special snacks did not bring special enjoyment and impact to my taste buds. Instead, they felt ordinary and not surprising at all,” she added.   Lastly, the hospitality.    Source: XiaoHongShu “I also encountered many unpleasant things during the trip. After leaving the airport, I took a taxi and was ripped off. The attitude and service of public transportation staff was poor, and I even experienced being ripped off when I was shopping in some stores,” “All these made the experience of the entire journey plummet and my mood changed. Extremely bad. It really took me a long time to get an e-hailing ride on a rainy day,” she said.   The Chinese tourist overall found her trip to be a horrible one.   You can check out her post here.
