The_King
It’s clear to see that British electronics firm Dyson is strengthening its foothold in Singapore. Dyson previously announced that it’s building an electric car manufacturing plant in Singapore by 2020, and is moving its corporate headquarters here. With an increased presence in Singapore, Dyson has shared that it is also expanding its team here as it unveils plans to “more than double” the headcount of its Research, Design and Development (RDD) team. Dyson CEO said in July that the firm expects its headcount to “grow quite substantially over the course of the next few years,” though he didn’t reveal any exact figures. It also intends to double its headcount at its Science Park facility, which will reportedly create an additional 190 jobs over the next five years. In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Dyson said that it’s hiring over 2,000 people across Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines over the next four years. It plans to hire engineers as well as expand its production, design and operations team, according to Jon-Paul Pritchard, Dyson’s global head of talent acquisition. “We’re investing in local populations as much as possible. We’re going to spend a lot of effort in retraining,” he added. In terms of hiring requirements, Pritchard said Dyson’s looking beyond the usual qualifications as soft skills are increasingly becoming important. “We look for things like resilience, learning agility and adaptability in individuals rather than necessarily nuts and bolts of hard skills.” A quick check on its career page shows that there are currently 110 available job positions in Singapore. Meanwhile, it is hiring for 68 and 16 open positions in Malaysia and the Philippines respectively. https://www.msn.com/en-sg/money/topstories/dyson-to-hire-over-2000-people-in-spore-msia-and-the-philippines-by-2023/ar-AAHHu8x?li
