Pengtai Supermarket, the largest local Thai supermarket in Golden Mile, moved to Aperia Mall in Kallang and attracted six merchants to follow suit to create a new version of "Little Thailand". Some shopping mall owners said the increase in crowds has driven business up to 30%.

Shin Min Daily News reported earlier that the Golden Mile Complex on Beach Road was collectively sold for NT$700 million . In addition to Thai Supermarket, a well-known supermarket in the country, six businesses in Golden Mile Complex also chose to move to Aperia. Mall, including a hair salon, money transfer counter, two nail salons and two restaurants.

Aperia Mall interviewees said that the arrival of these stores has brought crowds of people to the formerly quiet Aperia Mall and also boosted their business. The Korean supermarket on the first floor has been in the mall for nearly six years. When interviewed, store manager Ms. Lin said that Aperia Mall is usually supported by office workers. The crowds drop sharply after 8 pm, and there are not many visitors on weekends.

However, after Pengtai Supermarket and other Huangjinfang stores moved in, Ms. Lin noticed that business increased by 20% to 30%. "Especially in the first three months of the supermarket's opening, before it officially opened, many people came here. After the two Thai restaurants moved in, they attracted more visitors. We sell different products. Therefore, there is no competition but business is driven.”

Mr. Chen (54 years old), one of the persons in charge of Feng Chef, a cooking restaurant on the second floor of the mall, pointed out that Aperia Mall is generally less crowded. In the past, except for restaurants, cold storage companies (Cold Storage) and rock climbing gyms, the retail options were very limited.

"This mall is located between the Lavender and Bendemeir MRT stations. They are not close to each other, so the business has been tepid all the way." However, after the Golden Mile store moved in, his business increased by at least 10%.

Ms. Liang (57 years old), an assistant at the Chinese medicine clinic on the third floor, also said that Pengtai Supermarket will provide visitors with more choices after its opening. "While waiting for treatment, some patients would go downstairs and visit the Thai supermarket to buy the famous fried bananas." Luo Yuansen, owner of Pengtai Supermarket, told Shin Min Daily News: "I heard that the parking lot was always empty before. , since we moved here, it has been full every day.”
