Singapore has a ratio of 1 hospital for more than 220,000 Singaporeans

Singapore has the lowest hospital to population ratio amongst 33 developed countries around the world, a study by Radar Healthcare revealed.

The country has only 27 hospitals for its population of more than 5.9 million, a percentage ratio of 0.05%.

Radar Healthcare said that this could be due to the fact that Singapore has one of the lowest spending records in the world when it comes to healthcare investments (SGD$9.8m out of SG$400b), which would hugely limit resources and tech equipment.

South Korea has the best hospitals to population ratio, with 4,133 hospitals for its population of more than 51 million, an overall percentage of 0.81%.

The survey pitted 33 of the world’s most developed countries' healthcare, with Japan as the top country with the most exemplary healthcare services.
