SINGAPORE: Singaporeans are found to have the worst quality of life compared to people in other Asian countries.

The disclosure is based on the Evolutionary Wellness Study conducted by global fitness industry leader, Fitness First which involved more than 10,000 respondents from Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Hong Kong.

The study ended in October last year and the report’s findings were released this month.

Citing a Channel News Asia , Singapore reportedly scored lower than the Asian average in the report.

In the overall ranking, Singapore finished second last with 69 points, beating Hong Kong who got 67 points.

Indonesia is in first place with 79 points, followed by Thailand with 77 points.

Here are some facts that caused Singapore to score lower than the Asian average.

MORE FATIGUED THAN NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES

Studies show only 55 per cent of Singaporeans energetic throughout the day.

The study also stated that `external factors such as lack of time may prevent these groups from adopting a healthier lifestyle '.

Lack of sleep can also be one of the causes of lack of energy among Singaporeans.

Only 36 percent of people have adequate sleep every night and about a third of them feel refreshed after waking up.

In comparison, the average Asian score reaches almost 50 percent for both factors.

TAKE A LOT OF FOOD IMMEDIATELY

Singaporeans are reportedly not eating well.

The study found that Singaporeans had the worst eating habits among the other six countries.

About half of the respondents admitted to eating unprocessed foods compared to already processed ones.

Almost half ate a balanced diet.

However, most of the respondents were said to drink enough water throughout the day.

VERY DEPRESSED

Compared to other Asian countries, Singapore scores lower in terms of proactivity in personal development.

In terms of mental resilience, Singaporeans are said to have more negative views and feelings of not being able to control life.

Nearly 30 per cent of Singaporeans feel depressed compared to 24 per cent of respondents in other countries.

Based on the study, the `baby boomers' group of individuals aged 55 years and above as a whole were found to be able to control stress better than Gen Z.

THE REASON IS NOT ENOUGH TIME

Many people think that Singaporeans value goal setting and an orderly life, but research shows otherwise.

Only 66 per cent of Singaporeans set goals compared to the Asian average of 75 per cent.

It also shows that there are some people in the republic whose lives are less orderly than others.

Like other Asian countries, Singaporeans also enjoy spending time with individuals who can help them improve themselves.

However, when looking for opportunities and ways to improve themselves, the citizen is seen as not very successful.

They are also more likely to be dissatisfied and not have enough time throughout the day.

APPRECIATE THE SUPPORT SYSTEM

According to the study, Singaporeans work hard to strengthen personal relationships albeit a little less than other countries.

While more than 70 per cent of Singaporeans describe themselves as positive, more than 30 per cent are dissatisfied with their lives.

Singaporeans are also said to be somewhat withdrawn when more than a third of respondents do not like getting to know new individuals.
