Twenty women were arrested in a police crackdown on massage parlours and commercial units suspected of illegal activities in Toa Payoh, Balestier, and Orchard, the police said in a statement.
The enforcement operation, carried out on March 5 by Tanglin Police Division with support from the Housing and Development Board (HDB) and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), targeted establishments believed to be operating illegally.
The women, aged between 18 and 48, were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter Act 1961 and the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act 1990 (EFMA).
The authorities have not disclosed the specific nature of the offences, but past operations have often involved unlicensed massage services and vice-related activities.
Commander of Tanglin Police Division, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SAC) Cheong Chee Ming, emphasised the importance of such enforcement efforts.
"The joint operation led by Tanglin Police Division demonstrates the police's sustained efforts against illegal and criminal activities," he said.
"It demonstrates our commitment to keeping the streets safe and secure for everyone.
"We will continue to work closely with other law enforcement agencies to take tough action against those involved in illicit activities.
"Offenders will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law."
