Full Details: StarHub Digital Voice Home Fee Increase
What Happened
StarHub raised the monthly subscription fee for its Digital Voice Home (DVH) service from $2.14 to $5 (including GST) — a ~134% increase — effective 1 August 2026. This is the first price adjustment for the service since 2016 .
The Customer's Complaint
Stomper Yap, who is on a 2-year Home Broadband contract running from Jan 2025 to Jan 2027, received an SMS notification about the change on 30 June 2026. When he saw the higher charge on his August bill, he objected, arguing that StarHub was breaking the contract terms.
- He argued: "This is absolutely not acceptable as it means they do not have to honour the contract terms."
- He fears customers paying via automatic GIRO may not notice the increase, and wants to raise awareness.
- He has already given feedback to StarHub Support but remains unsatisfied with their explanation.
StarHub's Position
StarHub's response:
- DVH is a separate Value-Added Service (VAS), not part of the Home Broadband fixed-term contract. It operates on a month-to-month basis independently .
- Customers may terminate DVH at any time without early termination charges, while their broadband contract stays in effect.
- The rates had remained unchanged for over 10 years, and all customers were notified in advance.
- StarHub offered further assistance, which Yap declined.
