The natural increase in Singapore’s population has fallen sharply in the past decade as the country grapples with low birth rates and a growing number of deaths in an ageing population. The latest data comes after DPM Gan Kim Yong said in February that births have fallen at an “unprecedented rate”, with the TFR hitting a record low of 0.87 in 2025.
