    • since when nasi kandar , nasi  padang etc is cheap?     when want to eat food like this, prepare to pay more
    • Many Singaporeans go to Johor Bahru for the cheaper food. So Stomper Alan was surprised when he was charged RM48 (S$15) for nasi kandar with squid at a restaurant in Taman Nusa Sentral, Iskandar Puteri. “Nothing is cheap in Johor,” he lamented. “It’s more expensive than Singapore.”   Alan had ordered the food for his mother on March 23 at around 11am. It was his first time at the restaurant. A photo of the receipt shows that he was charged RM12 for the nasi kandar and RM36 for the sotong kari. “When I told my mum about the price, she was shocked, especially by the sotong,” he said. “I was also surprised I was charged separately since it was on the same plate as the rice.” The Stomper said he had expected to pay RM30 at most. His Malaysian friends were shocked that he paid RM48 for the plate of food.   He added: “My Malaysian aunty, who sells Chinese vegetable rice, said the sotong costs around RM15. She told me if she charged this kind of price, she would be scolded by the customer.” Alan wondered if he was charged a different price because he is Singaporean, although he felt that RM12 for the nasi kandar was “reasonable” since it included fish and vegetables. In December, it was reported that fewer Singaporeans were visiting JB likely due to the recent strengthening of the Malaysian ringgit. On March 18, the ringgit rose to RM3.0615 versus the Singapore dollar, the highest since March 2021.
    • A fight broke out in an open-air carpark in Yishun on April 2. The police told Stomp they were alerted to the fight at Block 108 Yishun Ring Road at about 9.30pm. “A 14-year-old male teenager and a 37-year-old woman were conveyed conscious to hospital,” a police spokesperson said. “An 18-year-old woman was arrested for rash act.”   Stomper Fab shared a video of the incident he took from his flat. The almost five-minute clip shows about 10 people arguing and gesturing at one another in the carpark.   At one point, a woman is seen slapping another woman wearing shorts, who retaliates by swinging her arms as others attempt to intervene and pull them apart. The latter falls down after being pushed, only to fall again. She is later seen lying on the ground and is pulled from a grass patch onto a pavement by a man whom the Stomper believes is her husband. She remains sprawled on the ground while the man crouches over her as the rest of the group disperses. Fab said his wife heard from a witness that the dispute allegedly started after two children collided while riding bicycles, which led to an argument between the adults. “The mother of one of the boys got into the scuffle with another lady, and then a guy came to push and punch her,” he said. “She missed her step, fell on her back and couldn’t move until the ambulance came to send her to hospital.” The Stomper also quipped: “Yishun again.” In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received a call for assistance at about 9.40pm and conveyed two people to Sengkang General Hospital. Police investigations are ongoing.
