    • SINGAPORE: Food delivery platform Deliveroo will exit the Singapore market, with its last day of service on Mar 4. The company announced this on Wednesday (Feb 25), saying it would begin "an orderly wind-down process". “This is a difficult decision and follows a review of country-specific conditions, and our focus on investing where we see the clearest path to sustainable scale and long-term leadership,” Deliveroo said on its website. “Deliveroo will work closely with local teams to support customers, partners and riders through the transition." Deliveroo said its decision to exit Singapore was part of a broader review of the company’s international portfolio. Its parent company, US firm DoorDash, announced in a separate press release that it was ending food delivery services in Qatar, Japan and Uzbekistan as well.  “These decisions follow a multi-month review of country-specific conditions and reflect DoorDash’s continued focus on investing where it sees the clearest path to sustainable scale and long-term leadership,” it said.  It added that the company was also implementing "limited operational changes" in select locations, including investing in certain engineering roles in the United Kingdom. DoorDash acquired its British rival Deliveroo in May 2025, in a deal valued at US$3.85 billion. The acquisition was aimed at helping DoorDash grow its market share in Europe, competing against Just Eat and Uber Eats. Britain, Ireland, France and Italy are among Deliveroo's major markets. Deliveroo entered Singapore in November 2015. "Over the last eleven years, we have been proud to help shape food delivery in Singapore, giving consumers access to a wide variety of restaurant and grocery partners, said head of DoorDash International and CEO of Deliveroo Miki Kuusi. "To all of the employees, customers, partners, and riders who have been on this journey with us and supported us along this journey – thank you.” Source: CNA/dy(gs)
    • Hundreds of AI-generated Chinese-language YouTube videos have been targeting Singapore and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong as part of an ongoing disinformation campaign. Seven in 10 videos attack Wong specifically, fabricating narratives about his leadership role being under threat and spreading conspiracy theories about political infighting in Singapore. The videos have racked up millions of views since surfacing late last year, though experts suggested that bot traffic or automation could be responsible. In aggregate, these videos represent one of the largest and most persistent public campaigns against Singapore in recent years.   https://www.scmp.com/news/asia/southeast-asia/article/3344522/singapore-prime-minister-attacked-hundreds-chinese-language-fake-ai-videos
    • A resident in Little India lodged a police report after a man was seen allegedly taking photos outside her flat without her permission. Stomper Anonymous, who lives in a flat at Kitchener Road, said the incident occurred on Feb 7 at about 12.48pm. She said a man in a green shirt was seen using his phone outside her unit and appeared to be sending the images via WhatsApp, based on what she could see on his screen from her camera footage.   A video shared with Stomp shows two men and a boy stopping outside the flat.   The man in green is seen taking out his phone and pointing it towards the door before the trio continues walking down the corridor.   "He is not a delivery guy, just taking photos," she said. "If he needed clarification, he could have just knocked." She added that she does not know what the WhatsApp messages were about. She subsequently made a police report on Feb 8. In a copy of the report seen by Stomp, she stated her window had been open at the time and the incident caused her "significant distress and concern for my safety". Anonymous told Stomp that the men did not approach or communicate with her directly. She said she had seen the man in green once, while another man in a pink shirt had been spotted outside her unit on several occasions. According to her, the man in pink had previously touched her camera in what she described as a joking manner. "But I don't find it funny that he played with my camera," she said. In response to a Stomp query, the police confirmed a report was lodged.
