SINGAPORE – The Housing Board is investigating an incident where a concrete panel slab fell off during hoisting at a construction site in Bedok on Feb 26.
In response to The Straits Times’ query, HDB said the slab dislodged while being lifted at the Bedok South Blossoms Build-To-Order project site, and landed on the trailer it was being lifted from.
There were no injuries arising from the incident, HDB said.
It added that the hoisting of precast components has ceased until further notice.
A video of the incident, which has been circulating on WhatsApp, shows the slab falling from a height of at least seven storeys. At least two construction workers on the ground are seen running away as the slab comes crashing down, narrowly missing one of them.
“HDB takes a very serious view of this incident as safety at our worksites is of utmost priority.
“We will continue to work with our industry partners to strengthen workplace safety at our worksites,” it said.
