    • A mookata chain in Singapore, regarded as offering one of the more affordable buffets around, has had enough of diners who take away food in personal containers. Family Mookata, which offers buffet options starting from S$14.90, posted the announcement on its Facebook page. Here are the prices:   Image from Family Mookata/FB   And here is the announcement:   Image from Family Mookata   In the post, the chain eatery mentioned how they had recently caught individuals engaging in such behaviour, and that the post would serve as a final warning against such actions in the future. The post garnered much support, with some expressing shock that diners resort to such tactics given that chain eatery's relatively low prices. Speaking to 8World, the owner said that since 2023, they have had four such incidents, with two of them taking place since November 2025 at their new Jurong Point outlet. The most recent incident on Dec. 31 involved a mother and daughter.   Staff apparently spotted them taking a container and putting in about 500g to 800g of raw meat, and 1kg of seafood. According to 8World, there was another incident when a woman was caught taking away the buffet food in containers. In response, the customer retaliated and chided the staff, saying they were being stingy and that was not how they should do business. The patron allegedly went on to reason that it would be a waste to leave the food uneaten and that she could eat it tomorrow if she brought it back home.   The owner said it was hoped that the latest announcement as well as imposing an unfinished food charge will deter these kinds of incidents from happening again.
