Taco Bell to open first Malaysian outlet in Petaling Jaya

It looks like California-based fast-food chain Taco Bell is keen on expanding its influence on Malaysian shores.

Last Friday, a post by Tropicana Gardens Mall in Petaling Jaya showed that the Mexican-inspired eatery would open its first outlet here.

 

 

 

 

 

“Taco Bell is invading Tropicana Gardens Mall!!! Are you excited??? Tag any of your friends now who can’t wait for this!” the caption said. The post was accompanied by a photo of Taco Bell’s banner on the exterior of the outlet.

The mall, located in the Surian district, didn’t reveal exactly when the Tex Mex restaurant would be available to KL-ites, but promised they’d share more details closer to the opening date in a separate comment yesterday.

Taco Bell is famous for its Mexican-inspired cuisine, with a wide range of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and nacho bowls, some of it loaded with cheese.

 

Like most Malaysian fast-food restaurants – we’re looking at you, McD and KFC – we hope to see a variety of “Malaysian-ized” dishes too, like nasi lemak (coconut milk rice) tacos, perhaps?

Last year, Taco Bell revealed that the brand was excited to expand its markets into the Southeast Asian region. At the moment, the fast-food chain has five restaurants in Thailand and six in the Philippines.
