The Malaysian government gazetted Bak Kut Teh as a national gastronomic heritage

Malaysia promulgated a gazette to officially list Bak Kut Teh as a local gastronomic heritage. Others that were also included in the list this time include Sarawak Kolo Mee and Nyonya nine-layer cake.

According to the Malaysian China Newspaper, the Malaysian government promulgated a gazette today (23rd), and the heritage commissioner announced that several foods have been listed as national heritage. Among them, Bak Kut Teh, which is highly valued by the local Chinese community, has finally been included in the list.

Others also included on the list include Sarawak Kolo Mee, Nasi Ambeng, Dodol Kukus Tahi Minyak and traditional Nyonya nine-layer cake (Kuih Genggang/Kuih Lapis).

The pickled side dishes (Jeruk Tuhau) and the drink Air Katira of the Eastern Makadashan people are also on the list.
